The SIBBM Lecture program offers up to a maximum of € 1500 per invited speaker, upon evaluation of expense documentation. Further contribution to the expenses for coffee breaks may also be agreed upon, in case the budget proves to be insufficient. The overall annual budget available is € 8000.
Applications can be made by SIBBM members in good standing with the payment of their annual fee, and will be evaluated by the SIBBM Executive Committee, based on the relevance and affinity with the scientific interest of the Society, the quality of the proposed speaker and the appropriateness of the workshop programme.
The local organizer and her/his Institute or Department are requested to disseminate the event as well as the sponsorship by SIBBM, in order to promote knowledge on the Society activities. In addition, a member of the SIBBM Executive Committee will participate to the event, where possible, introducing SIBBM with a short presentation.
Inquiries and proposals should be sent to Tiziana Bonaldi (tiziana.bonaldi@ieo.it) and the SIBBM secretariat (segretario@sibbm.org), providing a CV of the speaker, the proposed talk with a provisional title of the event, a tentative date that should not conflict with other SIBBM events and a cost estimate. The event venue will also be indicated, together with a dissemination plan to attract a large audience.
To ensure a regular number of events per year, fixed locations will be designated by the Executive Committee to host the Seminar, with a 2-3 years rotation. Local members of the SIBBM will be directly contacted by one member of the Executive Committee to kick off the organization. Further requests by any SIBBM members are very welcome, with the possibility of occasionally increasing the dedicated Budget.

Matt is one of the world top experts of metabolism of cancer cells. He made several seminal discoveries, such as the identification of metabolites fundamental for the proliferation of cancer cells, or the description of how metabolic pathways are rewired in different type of cancers.
He is also interested in how the environment and diet influence the metabolism of single cells and the whole body.
